Describe your sailing background:
We have twenty years experience with racer/cruiser type sailboats, in the Pacific
Northwest and San Francisco Bay.
What boats did you own prior to the J/32?
Catalina 22, 27, 42
What compelled you to buy a J/32?
We desired to downsize to a fun, easy and well performing boat. The J/32 is extremely
versatile and very well built.
What is the best feature of the J/32
.second?
The J/32 is faster than anything in its class (we club race). It is also very comfortable
inside and stiff in heavy weather.
Have you added any custom features to your J/32?
We have expanded the basic sail inventory to include a symmetrical spinnaker and 125%
Mylar headsail.
Describe your most memorable J/32 voyage.
We fell head over heels in love with the J/32 the first time we sailed her. The boat
responded like a dinghy, is stiff in a breeze and accelerates rather than rounding-up.
With an aft traveler, the loads on the main are manageable and it is easy to
depower in a gust. It is simply a fun boat to sail.
Please share any addl J/32 experiences.
In addition to local cruising, we club race the boat. We routinely pass boats that owe us
time and people are beginning to notice the boat's performance capability. This with a 17
year old helmsman and a teenage crew. We can blow just about any other 35
racer/cruiser out of the water. (Ah, if only we could race error free!)
What are your future sailing plans with the J/32?
We will continue to do local cruises and club races. The future goal is ocean racing. I
believe the J/32 could do very very well!
