C&C 24, C&C 29, J/35, J/105
What compelled you to buy a J/32?
Past experience with J Boats (sailing performance).
What is the best feature of the J/32
second?
Sailing performance as a cruising sailboat, interior space and layout.
Have you added any custom features to your J/32?
DK Bolt/stiffener on anchor roller channel for spinnaker tack line block mount (existing
channel deformed under load). GPS plotter swing mount in nav station area to allow use
while seated on port settee.
Describe your most memorable J/32 voyage.
45nm spinnaker (asymmetrical run on Lake Ontario. Wind speed 14-18 knots true, wind angle
145-155 true, waves 3-4 following), boat speed 6.8-9.4 knots. Second leg was a beat
in fairly flat water, with wind speed at 12-15 knots. "Horizoned" a Catalina
36 and passed a C&C 38 with us using a 100% jib. During the spinnaker run,
boat was very stable allowing autopilot steering, while we sun bathed on the comfortable
cockpit cushions with our cat.
Please share any addl J/32 experiences.
13 day cruise with combination of adventuring out and visiting various ports. Cooked most
meals onboard. Never felt cramped in V berth or main cabin.
What are your future sailing plans with the J/32?
Various short cruises the remainder of this season, with a two to three week cruise next
season.
