I spent more than a year and sailed more than twenty different boats before I decided to buy a J-42. Our family took delivery in August of 2000. We named our boat J-Belles after my daughter, Julie. The SAIL Rally for 40' Cruisers

Wednesday, February 21, 6 PM. The Miami Boat Show has just come to a close. Here I am on the J/42 tied up on the show floats off the Miami Yacht Club on Watson Island, isolated by bumper-to-bumper traffic and triangulated between the Bird Cage on South Beach, a line of cruise ships along the main channel and the amazing architecture of Miami's downtown. Putting a new boat together in two days is a very complex job, like that of being an orchestra conductor having to know the score as well as the talents of all the musicians, calling on them to perform at the right moment in the schedule and motivating all to place a high enough priority on their time so everyone's on stage (boat) and not pulled in another direction at a busy time of the year. Carib 1500- Best Cruiser Under 78 ft!

Peter & Carol Willauer's red J/42 'Eight Bells' (built as an "L" Live-aboard J/42) finished 1st in Class and 2nd Overall behind a 78' ketch in the 52 boat fleet which endured 94 hours of heavy air (2 reefs and 85% jib) in 25-30 knots and 12 foot seas. One boat was abandoned off Bermuda and another two dropped out for repairs. Read more here....
