 J/70 Construction The J/70 is carefully engineered and built using e-glass fabrics, end grained balsa core in the hull for durability and longevity and light weight foam core in the deck. All bulkheads and structure are molded with no wood components. The hull plug above looks simply spectacular. This hull form was initially cut with a 5-axis robotic milling machine, and then faired and long-boarded to match hull fairing templates. Durable tooling gelcoat was then sprayed, sanded and buffed to a mirror finish for final inspection and measurement. A similar technique was used for deck plug construction, interior components, and keel and rudder. |
