U.S. J/70 Youth Championship

The first annual U.S. J/70 Youth Championship was held in August 2017.  The event was hosted by SAIL NEWPORT, Newport, Rhode Island at their Fort Adams State Park facility.

The Pacific Coast teams have been on a roll.  The 2018 winner was King Harbor YC in Los Angeles, CA, sailing at St Petersburg Yacht Club's Sailing Center in their fleet of J/70s. The 2017 winner was the Santa Barbara YC in Santa Barbara, CA.

In 2019, the 3rd annual U.S. J/70 Youth Championship will again be hosted by St Petersburg Yacht Club from November 14th to 17th, 2019.

The goal of this event is to help develop and build leading-edge junior keelboat sailing programs across America.

The U.S. J/70 Youth Championship (USJYC) is open to ten (10) Youth Teams representing US Sailing recognized Sailing Clubs or Organizations.

The ten Youth Teams will compete on ten provided J/70 Class sailboats with class sails (main, jib, spinnaker).  The boats will be identically rigged and tuned at “base settings” that are recommended by the sailmaker.

How do you apply to enter the event?
